14 Feb Time Is Not On Our Side
If you are reading this, we are connected on at least some level and I care about you and your well being. That care, at it’s most primal core, is the driving force behind this message.
Over the last year something has taken a toll on my mental and physical health. It has knocked me down time after time to the point of giving up internally, and often externally, multiple times each day.
This immoveable force reminds me that I am growing old and with age comes a body that is no longer able to live as it had done so frequently and thoughtlessly for decades. My children age with or without my presence, yet I push myself to the brink for them. I miss tucking them in or sending them off to school, hoping that it pays off one day and they follow hard work and passion to fulfill their dreams at all cost. My wife tends to the 1,000,000 things that I overlook or rush past on the daily, yet I grow more and more frustrated with her so often, only to realize that it is my frantic pace and almost delirious demeanor, at times, are the real source of my own frustration, panic, anxiety and anger. I can only hope that it is all worth it as I sit in a wheelchair or lie on my deathbed looking back on my contributions to family, friends and community.
As is often said in battle, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” We can fight over race, religion, politics, etc, but the only real enemy that we face as an entire person is time. Everything else is fodder and disposable at best.
Friends, time is not on our side and I hope y’all are taking advantage of every minute of each day as if you’d been told it would be your last. Only once you’ve embraced just how minuscule our existence is and just how little time we have, will you honestly be happy. Maybe terrified for a brief moment, but happy, because you will then take full advantage of those opportunities that you would otherwise overlook or ignore.
Take that time and care for your goals and ambitions as if they were your only child. They will be there every evening when you crawl into bed. You will visit them as you sleep, only to awake to their greeting you as your eyes open and feet hit the floor.
You see, I believe that what makes us move forward is what makes us. Stop letting outside influences steal the precious little time we have and build the empire of love and happiness that you and yours deserve.
Time does not care that you are tired, hungry or struggling financially. Time does not reward you for doing well and absolutely isn’t there to pick you up when you fall. Time will chew you up and leave you for dead without so much as a warning.
Time requires you to do nothing. It is up to you and nobody else, as to what you do with your piece of it. Remember this though, please. Time is not a commodity. Once you have waisted it, you don’t get it back and that piece cannot be replaced. I would happily take your unused time but that’s not possible so instead, I will leave you with this: Do not let your day pass by without at least taking a step closer to what moves you forward. You, your family and those you surround yourself with will benefit greatly.
